I pursued my BSc in Biomedical Sciences from 2017 to 2021 and after graduation, I continued to study law at CUHK, where I gained my Juris Doctor (JD) degree in 2023. I am currently a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) student at CUHK, and I will join the international law firm Morgan, Lewis and Bockius as a trainee solicitor in 2024.
My transition from biomedical sciences to law started at SBS. I chose Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship as my Concentration Area which provides me with the opportunity to take an intellectual property law course as one of my major requirements. Through the Biomedical Internship arranged by the Programme, I worked as an intellectual property intern in the Law Offices of Albert Wai-Kit Chan in summer 2020. This experience led me to the intersection of biomedical sciences and law, prompting me to pursue a JD degree.
Biomedical sciences continued to impact me after the transition. The soft skills and academic knowledge gained from the BSc Biomedical Sciences programme are lifelong benefits. The mindset I developed during my undergraduate studies enabled me to analyze questions logically and systematically. I was able to cope with tight deadlines and stress. I am delighted to be able to engage in several legal projects involving biomedical sciences during my law internships. I am excited to explore more possibilities that my experiences at SBS will bring to my future law career.
