The Hong Kong Inter-University Postdoctoral Symposium in Biomedical Sciences 2025 was successfully held on 15 April 2025 at Lo Kwee Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This symposium was co-organized by the School of Biomedical Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK-SBS), the School of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Hong Kong (HKU-SBMS), and the Division of Life Science of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The organizing committee was formed by Prof. Stephen Tsui and Dr. Kelvin Ao from CUHK-SBS, Prof. Martin Cheung and Dr. Haifung Fu from HKU-SBMS, and Prof. Shangyu Dang and Prof. Jianrong Feng from HKUST.
The symposium served as an excellent platform for postdoctoral fellows from the three universities to present their research, connect with peers, and build collaborations. It attracted over 130 participants, including professors, postdoctoral fellows, research staff and postgraduate students from CUHK-SBS, HKU-SBMS, and HKUST. An inspiring keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Michael Häusser from HKU-SBMS, highlighting the latest advancements in neuroscience.
This year, a total of 36 abstract submissions were received, including 19 oral presentations and 17 poster presentations. The topics covered a wide range of areas, including human pathologies and immunology, cancer genomics and therapies, neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases, and organogenesis and tissue repair. Looking forward, we will continue hosting this joint-university symposium by three universities on an alternating basis each year. This initiative will further enhance knowledge exchange and collaboration among postdoctoral researchers in the biomedical sciences from CUHK, HKU, and HKUST.
