The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) continued to organize the SBS Summer Research Internship Programme and Summer Dissection Workshop for medical students at CUHK between June and August this year as annual events. The Closing Ceremony was held on 1 September 2022.
This year, six Year 2 medical students took part in the SBS Summer Research Internship Programme under the supervision of 4 investigators of our School, involving an 8-week summer research attachment (see the table below). Participating students engaged in research projects to acquire hands-on research experience and techniques during the summer break. This programme aims at nurturing research talents of MBChB-GPS students to unleash their potential to be future physician-scientists.

Also, the School organized Summer Workshop: Enhancement of Dissection Technique for 23 medical students. In the workshop, each student chose and focused on a body region to practise their dissecting skills. They were required to prepare a 10-minute video to present the anatomical and clinical importance of the specimen selected. Through this workshop, the students got exposed to advanced dissection techniques and learn about presentation of specimens. At the conclusion of the workshop, participating students with the best performance were selected for the “Mr Shiu Hing Tong Prizes For the Best Student Prosectors” (see the awardees 2022 below):
