Wang Yubing, Ph.D. Graduate

Dr. Wang Yubing received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) in 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Andrew M.L. Chan. He studied the role of tumor suppressor PTEN in glioblastomas. After graduation, he stayed in Prof. Chan’s laboratory to explore the transcriptional regulation of YKL-40 by PTEN, and its roles in neurodegenerative diseases.

In September 2018, Dr. Wang joined as a lecturer in the School of Bioscience and Technology, Weifang Medical University, Shandong Province, China. He has been continuing to study the function of YKL-40 in neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to research work, he is also responsible for the teaching of “Cell Biology” for medical undergraduates and international students.

The five years of study and work in SBS has not only facilitated Dr. Wang to continue the exploration in new academic areas, but also laid a solid foundation for his teaching in preclinical medicine. He will continue to apply the knowledge, ideas and research methods learned at SBS to his teaching and research, and also strive for training more outstanding medical students to serve the society.
