The SBS Research Day 2025 & Joint Symposium on “Advances in Developmental and Stem Cell Biology: From Embryogenesis to Regeneration” hosted by CUHK School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) and the Hong Kong Society for Developmental Biology (HKSDB) took place successfully on 16 June 2025 at G/F, Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building. Attracting over 300 participants from CUHK and other academic institutions, the event was a remarkable success.
Prof. Samuel Y.S. Wong, Acting Dean and Associate Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Sham Mai Har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President, CUHK; President of the Hong Kong Society for Developmental Biology and Prof. Andrew M. Chan, Professor and Director of SBS officiated the opening ceremony. With the special focus on “Developmental and Regenerative Biology”, the symposium featured four sessions: “Stem Cell and Regenerative medicine,” “Genetic and Molecular Mechanisms in Development and Disease,” “Disease Focus and Pathology,” and “Developmental Biology and Model Systems.”
The event featured a diverse group of speakers, including six speakers from the SBS and seven external speakers from City University of Hong Kong, Guangzhou National Laboratory, Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, National Institute of Biological Sciences, and The University of Melbourne. These speakers presented their latest research, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas.
As a key platform event for interdisciplinary dialogue, the Research Day and joint Symposium brought together experts from diverse fields to explore advancements in biomedical sciences. This collaboration sparked new connections and innovative ideas. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their enthusiastic participation, which ensured the event’s success.
