The 3rd Hong Kong Inter-University Postdoctoral Symposium in Biomedical Sciences 2026 was successfully held on 13 May 2026 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
This year, we expanded our reach to six universities. These include the host organizer, the Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST); the two founding institutions, the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Hong Kong (HKU); as well as the Department of Biology at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and the Department of Neuroscience at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
The symposium serves not only as an excellent platform for Hong Kong postdoctoral fellows to present their latest findings, but also as a catalyst for local collaborations and connections. This year, the event featured over 40 high-quality research presentations, including 25 oral and 21 poster presentations. It attracted more than 100 participants, comprising over 50 postgraduate students and nearly 60 postdoctoral fellows. We were inspired by the outstanding research being conducted in Hong Kong across diverse fields—spanning protein and cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, metabolism, cancer, immunology, tissue engineering, neuroscience, and clinical applications. Additionally, an inspiring keynote lecture delivered by Prof. Yung Wing Ho from the Department of Neuroscience at CityU highlighted the latest advancements in cognitive neuroscience.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the 2027 Joint-University Postdoctoral Symposium, to be hosted by CityU. This initiative, bringing together biomedical scientists from universities across Hong Kong, will foster knowledge exchange, strengthen collaboration, and advance scientific research and technological innovation.
