Dr. Jamie S.L. Kwok received her Ph.D. degree from the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Stephen K.W. Tsui, specializing in bioinformatics with experience in analyzing genetic mutations, microbiomes, transcriptomes, microbial and eukaryotic genomes and microarray data.

After graduation, she started a postdoctoral fellowship in Prof. Tsui’s laboratory and subsequently joined a start-up in genetic testing and digital health as Bioinformatics Scientist in October 2017. She is responsible for the research in genetic testing products related to fitness, diet, hereditary disease risk as well as microbiome.

Recently, she has taken part in developing the company’s first direct-to-consumer product. She considers it as moving to a new direction in her career from focusing on scientific research to translational research, bridging the gap between research and consumer needs. With the professional knowledge and strong research skills acquired in her postgraduate study in SBS, Dr. Kwok has great devotion to bringing to consumer market more innovative and quality technology products.
