8th Cross-Strait Symposium on Biomedical Sciences cum SBS Postgraduate Research Day 2023

The SBS Postgraduate Research Day was successfully held on 9 – 10 November 2023 at Hong Kong Science Park in conjunction with the 8th Cross-Strait Symposium on Biomedical Sciences, with the concerted efforts of the Organizing Committee of the SBS Postgraduate Research Day 2023, the SBS Postgraduate Student Association and the Graduate Education Office.

Graduation Ceremony of the Master of Science Programme in Genomics and Bioinformatics

The 2022-23 Graduation Ceremony of the Master of Science Programme in Genomics and Bioinformatics (the MSc Programme) was held on 11 November 2023 in the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building in Area 39, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, marking the successful completion of the Programme by its eleventh batch of MSc Programme graduates.

Participation in the CUHK Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2023

Members of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) participated in the CUHK Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2023 on 21 October 2023. Thousands of visitors including secondary school students, teachers and parents visited our stalls and participated in various activities organised by the School to get a better understanding of the BSc in Biomedical Sciences programme.

Dr. Ann Lau participated in CUHK Admission Caravan – Jakarta, Indonesia and Hanoi, Vietnam

Dr. Ann S.N. Lau, Admission Coordinator and Director of the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme cum Associate Director (Undergraduate Education) of the School of Biomedical Sciences, joined the CUHK Admission Caravan in Jakarta, Indonesia and Hanoi, Vietnam from 1 – 3 December and 9 – 11 December 2023, respectively. These events, coordinated by Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, CUHK allowed faculties to promote their programmes, provide updates about admission, and to meet with potential candidates.

Academic Committee Meeting and Principal Investigators (PI) Exchange Programme of MOE Key Laboratory

On 4 October 2023, a delegation from the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Li Ka Shing Professor of Biomedical Science, and including Prof. Wan Chao and Prof. Zhao Hui, attended the first Committee Meeting of the Second Academic Committee, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Key Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine (CUHK-Jinan University) at Jinan University. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants from both SBS and Jinan University.

The 3rd Symposium on Cell Fate and Tumorigenesis: From Animal Models to Human Diseases

Jointly organised by the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the 3rd Symposium on Cell Fate and Tumorigenesis: From Animal Models to Human Diseases was successfully held on 8 November 2023 at Room G02 in the Lo Kwee-Seong Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, CUHK.
