Prof. Chan Wai-yee’s team uncovers a distinct epigenetic mechanism of cardiomyogenesis

A study conducted by the research team led by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Professor of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) and Director of CUHK – SDU Joint Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics of SBS uncovers that Pten regulates cardiomyocyte differentiation by modulating non-CG methylation.

This article maps out the critical regulatory mechanism of cardiomyocyte differentiation and potentially contributes to the development of regenerative cardiology. The findings have been published in Advanced Science, and the paper has been selected as the cover story.
Prof. Chan Wai-yee and Dr. Lu Gang, Senior Research Fellow of the School and are correspondence authors of the paper. Dr. Wang Wuming, Postdoctoral Fellow of the School is the first author. Prof. Chen Zijiang and Prof. Liu Hongbin from Shandong University (SDU) are collaborators of this research study.
