Important Notice to all applicants for 2027-28 admission exercise
Applying through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)
In addition to meeting CUHK’s admission requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) stream under the “M.Phil.-Ph.D. Programmes” and English language proficiency requirements, HKPFS applicants must demonstrate exceptional credentials across these areas: Academic Excellence, Research Ability and Potential, Communication and Interpersonal skills, Leadership Abilities and Cultural Diversity.
To apply, applicants should first obtain a HKPFS reference number first through RGC’s website and submit an online application to CUHK that quotes the HKPFS reference number via the CUHK Online Application System. The deadline for the application, the submission of supporting documents and at least three referee reports is 1 December 2026. HKPFS applicants must also complete the mandatory HKPFS supplement (Part A to H), as well as submit the supplement documents to our division via email. For details regarding HKPFS application procedures, please click here.
Since at least three referee reports are required, applicants should enter contact information for all three referees into the online application system so that they receive an auto-generated submission request. You are strongly advised to select referees who would strongly recommend you across multiple aspects with detailed comments or even a reference letter. You may wish to seek your referees’ support and agreement prior to inputting their contact information.
Applying through Regular Admission
For applicants applying via regular admission to the Articulated MPhil-PhD Programme in Biomedical Sciences on the CUHK Online Application System (i.e. non-HKPFS applicants), please note that the deadline for both the application and the submission of required documents is 1 December 2026.
Important notes to both HKPFS and non-HKPFS applicants
The Graduate Division will ONLY consider the application with ALL required documents and information provided by the application deadline. Applicants are reminded to double check the issued and expiry dates of all valid reports/certificates of the latest version.
