Mini-conference and Workshops on Advancement in 3D Scaffold and μContact Fluidic Printings in Regenerative Medicine
12 Dec 2016
Details:

Organized by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Key Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine, the mini-conference on “Advancement in 3D Scaffold and μContact Fluidic Printings in Regenerative Medicine” was successfully held on 12 – 14 December 2016 at the School of Biomedical Sciences.

The event was chaired by Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Chief of the Developmental and Regenerative Biology Thematic Research Program and Co-Director of the MoE Key Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine. Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), and Prof. Rocky Tuan, Director of the Institute for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, gave an opening speech. Six experts in regenerative medicine, 3D bio-printing and microfluidic systems including Prof. John Hunt from the University of Liverpool, U.K., Dr. Steffen Howitz from GeSiM, Germany, Mr. Ashwini Rahul Akkineni from Dresden University of Technology, Germany, Dr. Frank Sonntag from Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology, Germany and Dr. John Casey from Lead Clinician for National Islet Transplant Programme, U.K., were invited to share with our School members their knowledge and experience in these advance technologies.

Apart from the mini conference, workshops in 3D Scaffold printing, Micro-Contact Printing and Lab-on-a-chip system were held in parallel sessions in the afternoon of 13 – 14 December 2016. Over 65 people participated in the workshops. It is our hope that by taking part in the event, school members can learn from the experts their research experiences and the latest technologies in regenerative medicine.
