Coordinated by the Office of Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), members of the Hong Kong Medical Council Accreditation Team (Accreditation Team) visited the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) at Choh-Ming Li Basic Medical Sciences Building (BMSB) and Lo-Kwee Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building (LIBSB), respectively, on 30 October 2018. The visit was one of the stops in their itinerary for the accreditation exercise of the medical education and training in CUHK.
Upon arrival at BMSB, Dr. Isabel S.S. Hwang, Senior Lecturer of SBS introduced to the Accreditation Team the different e-learning tools adopted for medical teaching including digital slides, micro-module courseware, mobile apps, VR experience, etc. Afterwards, the visitors were arranged to have a tour of the Dissecting Laboratories led by Prof. Hector S.O. Chan, Associate Director (Undergraduate Education) and Professor of SBS. When arriving at LIBSB, the Accreditation Team was welcomed by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS and Prof. Fung Kwok-pui, Associate Director (Academic Administration). Accompanied by Prof. Simon C.L. Au, Senior Lecturer of SBS and Head of Division of Education, the Accreditation Team visited two laboratories which housed two medical students taking a year off to study MSc Programme in Research Medicine. The Accreditation Team was then guided to tour the Core Laboratories by Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Managing Director of Core Laboratories, to learn about the advanced research facilities of SBS, before departure for their next stop in CUHK.
